Santiam Elementary School

March 2026

Hello School Community

Dear Families,

Thank you for attending conferences, and the resource and book fair. It was wonderful to see our school filled with such a strong sense of community!

We are also seeing continued growth in attendance. This week, our average attendance rate was 89.75%, which is very close to our 90% attendance goal. Another milestone worth celebrating is that 139 students, which is 60% of our school population, have attended school 90% or more of the time this year.

Thank you for your continued support, and keep up the great work!

Warmly,

Alisha Hansen

New Attendance Incentive!

We are excited to introduce our new monthly attendance award. Each month, after the Tiger Assembly, all students who have 90% or better attendance for the month will earn a collectible pin. The next pin to be earned is the gold sparkle pin, followed by the Tiger paw pin.

FANTA-STIC Behavior

The PBIS team is excited to share a positive behavior campaign and celebration with you.

We bring you…..The FANTA-stic Behavior Challenge!

We will track April’s conduct reports with March’s conduct reports. The goal: Have fewer conduct reports in April than in March. If we can collectively meet our goal, everyone will celebrate with a mini Fanta soda at recess.

New Head Custodian

Please help us congratulate our new head custodian, Justin Sanderson. Mr. Sanderson comes to our school with 19 1/2 years of custodial-related experience. He has also been subbing in our building since January and has been an awesome addition to our SES team.

We would also like to recognize George Morreira and thank him for his dedication to our school community over the past 10 years. We wish him all the best in his retirement.

3rd-5th State Testing Coming Soon!

Here are some helpful tips in supporting our students as they take the state test starting at the end of the month.

  • Get a good night’s sleep to start the day strong
  • Arrive to school on time and take a moment to feel calm and ready
  • Take your time, read each question carefully, and use strategies you’ve learned
  • Stay positive, believe in yourself, and remember your effort matters
